An idea is born

making your company human book cover

Retired O.M. Scott & Sons CEO, Le Herron, had a story to tell: his 24 years as CEO had given him incredible insight and proven philosophies that he knew would be valuable to today’s business community.  But how do you effectively communicate ideals and knowledge for future generations? With the help of co-author Sherry Christie, Le Herron set out to write a book offering readers a tried-and-true method of inspiring positive change in the workplace – one person at a time.

The story unfolds

Le came to Kernacopia with a finalized manuscript and charged us with the exciting task of publishing a book that was as visually fulfilling to hold in your hands as it is to read what lies between its covers. And the book layout and design were just the beginning. Once book production was complete, it was Kernacopia’s task to effectively manage the promotion of Le’s book:  Making Your Company Human: Inspiring Others to Reach Their Potential.

After reviewing Le and Sherry’s manuscript, the Kernacopia team was immediately drawn to the book’s message and knew that this book design had to have a deeper meaning that transformed the book’s written message into visual translation of Le’s philosophy.

The finished book jacket design uses varied hues of serene orange and rusty red to reflect Le’s own calming and warm personality. It incorporates an abstract profile that is a silhouette of Le himself.  The shift in color intensity from cooler to warmer symbolizes the transformation from a company devoid of individual passion to one that embraces human warmth and a more purposeful existence.

Inside the book, the chapter illustrations parallel the cover design, transforming abstract and seemingly intangible ideas into simple icons. Assembling as the story unfolds, the icons multiply through the progression of chapters, suggesting company growth and more complex human connections.

Spreading the word

Making Your Company Human:  Inspiring Others to Reach Their Potential is intended to help current and aspiring business leaders create an environment that fosters respect, partnership, and individual greatness. The project was a labor of love for Le Herron, who infused the story with his strong faith and optimism in people’s potential.  We welcome you to learn more at MakingYourCompanyHuman.com.
